Dear Network Members

Some of you will have noticed that things have been a bit quiet on the Resources North front! Apologies for this.

We decided some time ago that we would move away from annual subscriptions and offer instead low-cost per-event pricing to those who had been members and to other organisations across Yorkshire and the Humber.

However, as you will have seen, we had to postpone the event planned for October 2011 and decided not to re-run it in February 2012, as we have been unable to achieve the number of attendees needed to make holding the events worthwhile - both for Resources North and its audience.

Therefore, it is with sadness that I have to confirm - what many of you already know - that the project is no longer live and we have no plans to deliver any seminars in this financial year. However, if this changes, or if you are interested in using the Resources North brand to communicate to a range of stakeholders with a shared interest in resource efficiency, particularly sustainable waste management, then please get in touch.

Thank you for your support of Resources North. The project has delivered a huge number of high quality events since its inception in 1993 (when it was called Recycle North). I hope you found them useful and remember the Forum fondly.

Improving efficiency in waste: maximising income and minimising costs.

An event is being organised for Wednesday 2 November in Leeds City Centre to help local authorities to maintain or improve performance, despite shrinking budgets. The seminar will discuss a range of waste management issues from fuel consumption of RCVs to driver training and tracking; from improving recycling collection efficiency and reducing garden waste services to save costs; from using income from trade waste services to deliver household waste services and using partnerships to maximise savings.

Your regional resource efficiency forum, Resources North, is proud to present our SPRING SEMINAR. This time it is about renewable energy, in conjunction with CO2Sense Yorkshire.

Find out more about: how local authorities and businesses can benefit from renewable energy, and details of available information, support and funding/financial incentives. Hear about the role of planning and how local authorities, installers and community projects can work in partnership to deliver power to the people.

Who should attend? Local authority officers from: waste/recycling departments, climate change teams, social services, housing, economic development, community outreach and planning. Delegates from Housing Associations, community groups and developers/installers/suppliers are also welcome.
