Up to 100 jobs are set to be generated in Stoke-on-Trent as the city council prepares to install solar PV modules on thousands of its properties.

E.ON and building maintenance company Kier Stoke have joined forces with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to install the modules on up to 4,000 houses giving rise to 100 jobs being created.

Councillor Mark Meredith, cabinet member for economic development, said: "This project gives a local workforce the chance to learn new skills and take part in one of the most exciting innovative projects the city has to offer."

The council signed a £4m agreement with E.ON last year to put the modules on city council and privately-owned houses. Alongside the module installation the council has been upgrading insulation and installing other energy efficiency measures.
