A CONTRACT worth £35m to install commercial wind turbines across the UK has been won by ICE Renewables.
The three-year contract will see the North Yorkshire-based firm supply, install and maintain 70 turbines from French manufacturer Vergnet Groupe.
The company will be targeting customers in agriculture and manufacturing as well as country estates, business parks and community schemes.
Managing director Julian Martin said: “It is very unusual to negotiate an exclusive nationwide contract for green technology.
"More than 400 Vergnet turbines, designed for the harsh environmental conditions, are installed worldwide and have an excellent track record which is not always the case with turbines imported to the UK.
“Demand has increased dramatically since the Government’s income-generation incentive took effect. These turbines can allow farmers to diversify by becoming
energy generators and enable manufacturers to cut production costs and enhance competitiveness."
The turbines are suitable for powering milking parlours or equipment and refrigeration where dairy products are made and stored as well as a range of manufacturing operations.
ICE Renewables, which employs 20 people, was advised on the deal by York lawyers Denison Till.
