Are you interested in renewable energy for Bradford?  If so, come to Bradford City Hall on Saturday 8th October, to learn about local opportunities, and options for setting up cooperatives in the community.  The workshop will:

  • Provide information and guidance on renewable energy technology
  • Discuss the opportunities for renewable energy in Bradford
  • Provide information on developing renewable energy cooperatives

09:00) Registration, stall viewing and coffee

09:30) Host John Anderson - Introduction.

09:40) Scene setting - Councillor Kevin Warnes explains that Microgeneration is a new investment opportunity and show how Bradford needs to improve its record to avoid being left behind.

09:50) Jargon Bashing - Emily Charters of CO2 Sense explains the types of renewable generation and offer a brief explanation of how they work also how FITs and RHI work, the levels of ROI and the real costs and benefits of setting up different types of renewable energy schemes. 

10:10) What is possible? - Richard Williamson of Bradford Council presents the report on available capacity for renewables in Bradford.  What has been done in Bradford? How the Council can help.

11:00) Setting up energy cooperatives - Andrew King Chairman of Energy4all presents a short case study on setting up wind energy cooperatives to reap the benefits of community energy generation.

11:10) Help in setting up cooperatives- Paula Denison of The Social Enterprise Support Centre to explain what can be done to help local co-operatives get started and keep momentum.

11:30) Workshops; Choices concentrating on what attendees can DO:      

  • Businesses & communities - what can we do together? (Dave Melling - Airedale Partnership)
  • How to set up a successful energy cooperative. (Andrew King - Energy4All)
  • Renewable energy in Bradford - what are the possibilities? (John Anderson - FOE Baildon)
  • How to get other groups & businesses working with you. (Judy Conner - BEAT)
