Energyshare, a joint venture set up by British gas and River cottage, has announced the final short-list of  community based Renewable energy schemes that are vying for funding to get their  projects off the ground!

The energyshare fund has been set up to support inspiring, community led, renewable energy projects across Great Britain. All the projects energyshare intends to support 'will be play a central part in realising energyshare’s ambition to do something different and create real change'.

The £500,000 available will support projects which:

  • have the objective of  saving or generating energy locally
  • are supported by their local community
  • will benefit the local community and have a tangible and lasting impact
  • have some aspect (of the project) that is realistically achievable within one year
  • will inspire even more community renewable projects

The public will then vote for their favourite scheme, from the final shortlist decided by representatives from energyshare, River Cottage, British Gas and Friends of the Earth, to determine who will receive funding.
