At the Water Research Centre, the Institute of Freshwater Ecology, then the University of Bradford, Matt has worked in sewer and freshwater monitoring, ecology, soil science, urban water pollution, monitoring and modelling human exposure to air pollution.

On joining Maslen Environmental in 2002 Matt managed the sustainability of the construction of the Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre at Barton-upon-Humber, and the Integrated Composting Programme for Sita Trust. Matt has delivered the organic waste theme of the Delivering Excellence in Waste (DEW) project for the Yorkshire and Humber region, and is currently leading the organics programme at CO2Sense. Matt is chair of the ReMaDe Network UK Organics Special Interest Group (SIG), and a director of the Association for Organics Recycling.
