Mark joined CO2Sense in July 2009 as project manager for paper and card. For the previous nine years Mark worked as Community RePaint project manager for the UK-wide network of community-based paint re-use projects.
The post involved increasing the capacity of the network to take leftover paint from the public and trade for use on charitable and social projects, while creating work, volunteer and training places, for example, to the long-term unemployed and people with learning difficulties. Additionally, it involved regular reporting to the long-term sponsors Dulux and negotiations with major DIY retailers such as B&Q, Homebase and Focus DIY.
Mark also worked occasionally as a part-time assessor for a Lottery-funded programme to develop community recycling and previously for many years in the insurance industry. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management and of the Society for the Environment.
