Gordon Watts

Gordon manages the Woodfuel Infrastructure Programme and funding scheme for CO2Sense, and joined the CO2Sense team in September 2009.

Gordon originally comes from an industry based background having spent 11 years working in technical management and supporting process and product development activities for British Steel / Corus. During this time he attained his post graduate diploma in management studies from Sheffield Hallam Business School.

In 2000 and in a change of direction, Gordon left Corus to study for his Masters in environmental management. On completion Gordon joined British Glass / GTS Ltd., where for 4 years he provided management of the glass manufacturing sector’s Climate Change Agreement, acting as the interface between around 30 glass manufacturing companies, DEFRA and their technical agents. In this role Gordon established the sectors protocols for managing the agreement, and successfully guided the sector through a number of milestone target periods. Gordon then moved to the GTS environmental projects team where he further developed his proposal writing and project management and delivery skills. In this role, and working predominately on behalf of the Waste and Resources Action Programme, Gordon managed the delivery of projects considering subjects as diverse as advocacy for the development of lightweight glass containers, the carbon budget associated with the international trade in recycled glass, stakeholder engagement for the development of a recycled content protocol for glass containers, and support for the recovery of greater amounts of glass from the hospitality sector.
