George Stammers joined CO2Sense in September 2007. As Programme Director for CO2Sense, George takes a keen interest in all the projects proposed for support and works across all disciplines bringing his extensive project management, engineering and financial risk management experience to bear.
George first got involved directly in renewable energy whilst conducting research into energy efficiency and the use of renewables in schools at Nottingham University’s School of The Built Environment, and, consequently, always places emphasis on minimising energy use first then replacing what you can with renewable as the most efficient use of our resources.
George has a long history of successful project management and tendering exercises in manufacturing and process industry. Whilst employed by Carlsberg-Tetley he had full responsibility for a £30M capital programme over a period of three years. Whilst with BOC he was responsible for the development of BOC’s successful bid for a plant in Rotherham. This £45M plant went on to become BOC’s first on time, on budget project delivered in seven years. George has extensive business training including an MBA from Cranfield School of Management. This led him to develop small businesses of his own, as well as direct management of larger contracting operations, as well as assisting many businesses with development of business planning and processes to minimise risks.
George joined CO2Sense following a period of extended project evaluation which led to the delivery of a regional wood pellet mill. George carried out the business planning, technical and commercial evaluations, and sought partners to deliver the project.
