How do I find out about funding?

CO2Sense has designed a sign posting tool to direct you to relevant funding sources for your project. Further details of the funding tool can be accessed here.

What technologies are CO2Sense mainly focusing on?

* Solid biomass and waste derived fuels
* Biomass heat generation from 50kWt upwards
* Biomass power and combined heat and power from 50kWe to 50MWe
* Micro-hydro schemes from 50kWe up to 5MWe capacity
* Gas and multi-fuel combined heat and power from 50kWe to 50MWe
* Heat recovery schemes (for both heat only and combined heat and power
* Community heating
* “Hydrogen economy” projects – i.e. fuel cells, electrolysers and storage systems
* Integrated, multiple technology systems
* Wind projects where there are unique features that prevent their development by private sector companies or where there are specific community interests. However, we do not regard this list as exhaustive, and would welcome enquiries for other energy sources and for relevant enabling projects.

Does CO2Sense support Microgeneration or Micropower?

Not directly, however if there was a network development or an accumulated carbon saving, an initial feasibility may be launched. Otherwise, regional microgeneration projects are progressed through 'Microgeneration Yorkshire', a sister programme. For more information please contact us.

What are the capacity thresholds for an attractive project?

Generally medium scale developments of a few 100kW to a few MW. Some examples are listed below;

* Biomass heat generation from 50kWt upwards;
* Biomass power and combined heat and power from 50kWe to 50MWe;
* Micro-hydro schemes from 50kWe up to 5MWe capacity; and
* Gas and multi-fuel combined heat and power from 50kWe to 50MWe.

What are the criteria for an attractive project?

The criteria CO2Sense uses to screen opportunities are as follows (largely viewed, as a regional benefit):

  • Renewable capacity
  • Commercial attractiveness (ROI, NPV, IRR etc)
  • 10 year emission savings
  • Jobs created (direct/indirect)
  • Business created
  • Business supported
  • Private investment attracted

Who are typical clients or business partners CO2Sense engage with?

Public organisations – local authorities, hospitals, academia, regional and national government bodies.

Private organisations – technology developers, project developers, manufacturers, investors and utilities.

Is CO2Sense involved in lobbying?

The team actively participates in government and regulatory consultations.

Who should I contact if I believe I have a valid project?

If you have a project that meets the CO2Sense criteria, please contact us using the form provided here. Please include information regarding your project as this will help us to assign your enquiry to one of our project managers.
