Electric vehicles given a boost as CO2Sense heads bid for funding

CO2Sense is heading up a bid for a share of funding worth up to £20 million to develop a network of electric vehicle charging points across the region. The funding is from the Plugged in Places scheme, developed by the Office of Low Emissions Vehicles, and the aim is to create an infrastructure that will support the increased use of electric vehicles throughout the country.

The start-up funding will be made available to consortia made of local authorities, other public sector bodies, businesses, electricity distributors and suppliers. The funding will support various types of recharging points on street and in local authorities, business, retail and leisure facility car parks. CO2Sense is leading the Yorkshire and Humber consortium, which is made up of organisations from both public and private sectors and from across the region.

Update
The regional Plugged in Places bid is moving into its final stages, and there is only a month left to secure 50% funding for charge points located at your organisation.
